LGBTQ+ birth and beyond

Supporting Queer Families Through Pregnancy and Beyond:

As a doula and antenatal teacher, I recognize the unique and diverse needs of queer families as they navigate their journey into parenthood. My role is to provide an inclusive, affirming, and empowering environment where individuals and families feel supported, respected, and celebrated throughout every stage of their experience—from planning their family to postpartum care and beyond.

Planning and Starting a Family
For many queer families, the journey to parenthood may involve additional considerations such as fertility treatments, adoption, surrogacy, or co-parenting arrangements. I offer guidance and a safe space for discussions about these pathways, providing tailored support and signposting to trusted resources and LGBTQIA+-friendly professionals. This ensures families can access the information they need to make informed decisions that align with their values and goals.

Antenatal Support and Community Building
During pregnancy, I aim to create a welcoming environment for queer families by offering inclusive antenatal classes that acknowledge and address their specific experiences. I also facilitate connections through support groups and networks where families can meet others who share similar journeys, building a sense of community and belonging. This collective support can be invaluable in navigating challenges and celebrating milestones.

Postnatal Support and Infant Feeding
After the birth of a child, I provide emotional and practical support tailored to each family’s needs. This includes assistance with infant feeding options, recognizing that not all families follow traditional breastfeeding models. Whether it’s supporting chestfeeding, induced lactation, formula feeding, or any combination, I honor each family’s choices and provide the resources and tools they need for success.

In all my interactions, I strive to create a safe, judgment-free space where queer families can thrive. By acknowledging the richness of their identities and experiences, I hope to be a part of their journey in creating a loving and affirming foundation for their growing family.
